The Editors-in-Chief and the Publisher hereby retract the article entitled “Enhancing diagnostic accuracy in breast cancer: integrating novel machine learning approaches with enhanced image preprocessing for improved mammography analysis”, published in Polish Journal of Radiology in 2024 (DOI: https://doi.org/10.5114/pjr/195523).

Following a post-publication investigation, the Editorial Office determined that the article substantially reproduces content from the previously published work entitled “A novel medical image enhancement algorithm for breast cancer detection on mammography images using machine learning” by Hanife Avcı and Jale Karakaya, published in Diagnostics, prior to the publication of the retracted article.

The investigation concluded that the article constitutes plagiarism and therefore represents a serious breach of publication ethics and the journal’s editorial policies. As a result, the scientific integrity and originality of the published work cannot be guaranteed.

The decision to retract the article was authorized by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

The authors were contacted regarding the concerns raised during the investigation. However, attempts to reach the authors were unsuccessful, as their institutional e-mail addresses were no longer active.

This retraction is issued to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record and to alert readers that the content of the article should not be considered an original scientific contribution.
